Half a million teardrops
02:53
|
|||
She started crying the night he left her
She was all broke up inside
Yeah she lay down on her bed alone
And she cried and cried and cried
Now her tears keep right on falling
And her eyes are always wet
It’s been Half a Million Teardrops
And she ain’t done crying yet
Half a Million Teardrops and she ain’t done crying yet
After all the time that he’s been gone you’d think she could forget
Heartaches walking hand in hand with pain and loneliness
It’s been Half a Million teardrops and she ain’t done crying yet
She used to laugh at life’s misfortunes
She used to smile all the time
But since he walked away they say
All she does is cry
A good friend of hers told me
“No one’s countin but I bet
It’s been Half a Million teardrops
And she ain’t done crying yet”
Half a Million Teardrops and she ain’t done crying yet
After all the time that he’s been gone you’d think she could forget
Heartaches walking hand in hand with pain and loneliness
It’s been Half a Million teardrops and she ain’t done crying yet

True Love
03:42
|
|||
Two old broken hearts were singing the blues
Just drinking beer and smoking cigarettes
“She broke my heart,” the first one says to the second
“But I ain’t giving up on true love yet”
‘Cause true love’s not a story
They make up for the magazines
It never gives a thought to getting even
True love is a promise kept
Or someone you can turn to
It’s someone and something to believe in
In a broken down, downtown apartment building
A woman holds a young child to her breast
“He broke my heart,” she whispers to her baby
“But I ain’t giving up on true love yet.”
‘Cause true love’s not a story
They make up for the magazines
It never gives a thought to getting even
True love is a promise kept
Or someone you can turn to
It’s someone and something to believe in

Buckets of tears
03:55
|
|||
I read the story on Facebook
About the girl with a broken heart
She was trying to put it back together
Not knowing where to start
She was hungry and she was sad
As anyone would be
She hadn’t ate a thing since Friday
So she headed down to KFC
She needed some time to figure it out
She needed some time to think
So she ordered a box of chicken wings
Large fries and a drink
Now everybody’s laughing
You ought to hear the way they speak
About the girl who stopped for chicken wings
And stayed for the rest of the week
You can laugh buckets of tears
Or cry barrels of laughter
You can watch the world go by
But it only leaves you sadder
You can spy on people’s lives
And think it doesn’t matter
The easy part is looking
The hard part’s ever after
Heartbreak as entertainment
And a story you couldn’t make up
Lots of laughs for lots of folks
What’s there not to love?
People want to read this stuff
The Internet has spoken
She should have known better than
To let her heart get broken

Come with me
02:52
|
|||
I was looking for some answers
So I went out one night walking
Met some wise men on the street
But none of them were talking
So I found an eastbound highway
I said I’ll follow where it leads
Maybe when I reach the end of it
I’ll find just what I need
Ooh baby, come with me 2x
Last night I couldn’t sleep at all
But I had the strangest dream
There wasn’t one soul left alive
In this world but you and me
You were crying like a baby does
When she’s scared and all alone
Standing on the edge of time
A million miles from home
Ooh baby, come with me 2x
In my dream I had this vision
In the moonlight’s reflection
You were walking on the shoreline
With an Angel for protection
The Heavenly Host
Was gathered overhead
You turned to me and smiled
And this is what you said
Ooh baby, come with me 2x

Old friends like you
02:30
|
|||
Sitting up, Three o’clock in morning
Laughing and telling stories just the way we used to do
We had dreams, I wonder where our dreams went
But who needs dreams when they’ve got old friends like you
Old friends like you and me
We understand each other
We look kindly on our differences
And cherish one another
Looking back, it seems so long ago
We were young and full of promises of things we meant to do
We had dreams, I wonder where our dreams went
But who needs dreams when they’ve got old friends like you

I was living a big lie
I was living in sin
Jesus reached out and touched me
Now I’m walking with Him
Look what the love of Jesus
Did for a sinner like me
The world let me down
I was lost now I’m found
Look what His love did for me
A beacon shines in the darkness
A light is leading me home
I’m walking now in the Spirit
Now I’m never alone
Look what the love of Jesus
Did for a sinner like me
The world let me down
I was lost now I’m found
Look what His love did for me
Look what His love did for me
I was living a big lie
I was living in sin

Neglected and abused cast aside like some unwanted Christmas Toy
Once he must have been a bundle of joy
But it seems so long ago to a lonely homeless boy
Who will love the children
When they’re far from home
Who will love the children
When they’re cold and alone
Families torn apart, crucified on a cross of broken hearts
Pushed from place to place, ridiculed and scorned
Locked inside detention camps for the crime of being born
Who will love the children
When they’re far from home
Who will love the children
When they’re cold and alone
Sleeping on the street, wondering what happened to her dreams
Once she wore her hair in braids and baby curls
But it seems so long ago to a lonely homeless girl
Who will love the children
When they’re far from home
Who will love the children
When they’re cold and alone
There’s a chapel on a hillside
And inside a sign that reads
“As you’ve done to the least of my brethren
You have done to me.”

Hand me that guitar
02:53
|
|||
Hand me that guitar
I'm feeling blue again
When others let me down
She's always been my friend
She's always stood beside me
Through the thick and thin
So hand me that guitar
Tonight I need a friend
My baby promised me
She was all done fooling around
But tonight I'm feeling like I might be
The biggest fool in town
The breaking of my heart
Won't even make a sound
It's like the silence of a snowflake
Falling softly to the ground

Nothing in this world lasts forever
Heartaches end the moment love begins
Your fingertips feel lighter than a feather
And softer than the moonlight on my skin
So put a baseball cap on your head
And turn it sideways
Smile at me the way you used to do
If you’re one more dream
Disappearing down the highway
You’re still the closest thing to love I ever knew
Don’t wake me up if I’m only dreaming
If this ain’t real then I don’t want to know
All I know is all this love I’m feeling
Makes me want to never let it go
So put a baseball cap on your head
And turn it sideways
Smile at me the way you used to do
If you’re one more dream
Disappearing down the highway
You’re still the closest thing to love I ever knew

Love is
03:17
|
|||
In the darkness, in the gloom
Don’t be discouraged, don’t be blue
Love’s not selfish, or unkind
Love can ease a troubled mind
When your heart feels black and blue
Love wouldn’t think of hurting you
Love is faithful, it can’t betray
In the darkness, it lights the way
Some bright morning, someday soon
Love will walk right in on you
It won’t hurt you like he did
You’ll want to smile like a little kid
In the darkness, in the gloom
Don’t be discouraged, don’t be blue
Love’s not selfish, or unkind
Love can ease a troubled mind

Real as love can be
02:37
|
|||
Real as love can be
That’s the kind she needs
Love that’s true won’t make her blue
If it’s real as love can be
There’s love that is and love that ain’t
There’s lovers lined up outside her gate
There’s lovers calling on the telephone
Real as love can be
That’s the kind she needs
Love that’s true won’t make her blue
If it’s real as love can be
Every inch a woman of the world
Sometimes she feels like a little girl
Dreaming of a love all her own
Real as love can be
That’s the kind she needs
Love that’s true won’t make her blue
If it’s real as love can be
A little sleep, a little rest
A little baby clutched to her breast
That’s about as real as love can be
Real as love can be
That’s the kind she needs
Love that’s true won’t make her blue
If it’s real as love can be
