The “Alternative Facts” were flyin’ so fast
I couldn’t keep track of ‘em all
They came through the door and covered the floor
They piled up against the wall
They were coming thru my smart phone
Damndest thing I’d ever seen
They were flying outta my tablet
And my 52-inch TV

At first I thought they were some new bug
I’d never seen before
Or maybe a germ war weapon
Left over from the Second World War
But then my mind got fuzzy
Was it whispering I heard?
Things got weird time disappeared
And the strangest thoughts occurred

Like the sun comes up in the west each day
And goes down in the east
Vanilla tastes like peanut butter
And vinegar tastes sweet
In my mind I became convinced
That the Savior had arrived
But he wasn’t preaching love and peace
And his hands were smaller sized

When I came back to my senses
I went and got myself a beer
And I remembered “The truth shall set me free”
And the Alternative Facts disappeared
Now a chunk of coal may turn into
A diamond by and by
But the truth is that facts are facts
And lies, well, they’re just lies
